MarVista Spotlights Witches of Oz Mini-Series Event

LOS ANGELES: The six-movie slate MarVista Entertainment is touting for AFM includes the fantasy adventure Witches of Oz, a two-part mini-series that puts on a modern twist on L. Frank Baum’s classic tale.

The mini-series stars Christopher Lloyd as the Wizard of Oz, with Sean Astin, Billy Bod, Lance Henrikson, Mia Sara, Jeffrey Combs and Ethan Embry rounding out the cast. Paulie Rojas plays Dorthy Gale.

Further on the slate is the action feature Special Ops. A.J. Draven stars as captain Kyle Fierson, whose Black Ops unit is ambushed during a raid to rescue a deadly nuclear device. He must run for his life to track down the missing time bomb, but must also clear his name when he is accused of aiding terrorists.

Riding Tornado stars Danny Keogh and Matthew Dylan Roberts. The drama, based on a true-life story, follows the journey of healing and self-discover an emotionally damaged man and a tormented horse find together.

MarVista is also highlighting the family feature 16 Wishes. A co-production between MarVista and Disney Channel, the movie premiered in June on the Disney Channel and rated as the day’s number one telecast in kids 6 to 11 and tweens 9 to 14. The prime-time TV movie stars Debby Ryan and Jean-Luc Bilodeau. Mandie and the Cherokee Treasure is the latest installment in the Mandie franchise. It is based on the popular book series by Lois Leppard. In the way of Holiday fare, the romance Christmas Mall follows a friendly neighborhood postman who gets a special holiday gift when his niece makes a request to santa to bright up the life of her lonely uncle.
