MarVista Secures New Central, Eastern Europe Deals

LOS ANGELES, June 21: MarVista Entertainment arrived at
DISCOP this week with several deals already concluded in the region, including
licensing more than a dozen movies to Zonemedia’s Zone Romantica channel in
Eastern Europe.

Zonemedia acquired more than a dozen movies from MarVista
for its channel Zone Romantica, which broadcasts to more than 9.3 million homes
in Eastern Europe. Titles under the agreement include the romantic comedy Frame of Mind, starring Jeremy Sisto (TNT’s Julius
Caesar, Six Feet Under,
Clueless), Peter Stormare (Minority Report, Prison Break, Fargo) and Dina Meyer (Starship
Troopers
); and Friends Forever, the coming-of-age-story that uncovers the dark secrets of six twenty-somethings at
their annual reunion. Friends Forever stars Amanda Peet (The Whole Nine Yards, Saving Silverman,
Changing Lanes, Something’s Gotta’ Give
),
and Michael Kelly (Carlito’s Way: The Rise to Power, Man on The Moon), among others.

In addition, MarVista has sold the romantic comedy You
Did What?
to HBO in the Czech Republic,
Hungary, Poland and Romania. The comedy features a man named Charlie, played by
Edward Kerr (House, What I Like About You, Sex and the City), who is thrown for a loop when he discovers that
his brother has just proposed to a girl he has known for less than 24 hours,
causing his girlfriend of a couple years to question the status quo of their
relationship.

"We are delighted to continue building relationships
with such important broadcasters in Eastern and Central Europe and hope our
strong presence at DISCOP will bring about more partnerships throughout those
territories," stated Fernando Szew, the CEO of MarVista
Entertainment.

MarVista is debuting more than 75 hours of programming at
DISCOP this week, led by a slate of 13 new movies. This slate is headlined by
titles executive-produced by MarVista’s Michael Jacobs and Szew for Lifetime.
These include Past Sins, starring
Lauralee Bell (The Young and the Restless) as Donna Erickson, a tough-as-nails criminal defense
attorney who must prove the innocence of a woman whose DNA matches her to a
crime committed many years before; Cries in the Dark, in which a detective Carrie Macklin, played by Eva
La Rue (CSI: Miami) searches for
her sister who is missing after a run-in with a recently relocated sex
offender, just days before she is due to deliver her first baby; and the drama Seventeen
and Missing
, in which a mother’s paranormal
visions aid in finding her daughter and bringing her broken family back
together. A variety of movie acquisitions are also making their DISCOP debut,
including the thriller The Terrorist Next Door, Deadly Secrets, which explores the extreme lengths one young man
will go to cover up a fatal accident, and The Sasquatch Dumpling
Gang,
for which Kevin Spacey serves as a producer.

MarVista Entertainment will also offer buyers at the market
seven more hours of the teen surfing drama Beyond the Break. For kids, MarVista will highlight 52 half-hours of
the acclaimed CGI-animated series The Zula Patrol, targeted at viewers aged 3-8 and centered on space
age adventures. For the first time at the market, the company will offer up the
new animated movie Attila and The Great Blue Bean, from Kent Butterworth, the director of Sonic
The Hedgehog
and Batman: The
Animated Series.
