LOS ANGELES: MarVista Entertainment has acquired five new TV movies for its distribution catalogue and will launch the offerings at MIPTV.

MarVista now holds worldwide distribution rights to the drama Lies and Deceit, which stars James Brolin, Corin Nemec and Joanna Cassidy in an intimate story of love, relationships and secrets. The psychological thriller A Memory of Lies features Amber Jaeger as a woman trapped in her suburban home from agoraphobia. International distribution rights were also picked up for the light-hearted comedy Help Me, Help You, featuring a well-meaning doctor who realizes he only has six months to live and decides to help fix the lives of his six friends. Rounding out the acquisitions are two dramas, The Dark Horse, featuring a dangerously spirited Friesian horse and a woman who must tame and learn to ride him in order to save her family farm, and Redemption, set in 1865 and spotlighting a young southern family’s attempt to start over in California.

“There is a continuing demand in the international marketplace for movies across all genres,” commented Fernando Szew, the CEO of MarVista. “MarVista constantly researches and acquires quality movies that complement our existing movie lineup, and we are delighted that at MIPTV, we will again be able to offer a diverse movie slate to our broadcast partners.”
