Marvel’s Jessica Jones Renewed by Netflix

BEVERLY HILLS: The drama Marvel’s Jessica Jones is set for a second season on Netflix, which has also announced new details about the highly anticipated return of Black Mirror, among other programs.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones is currently streaming in its first season. Krysten Ritter plays the title character, who is one of the most popular new Marvel characters of the last decade.

Meanwhile, British star Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights, ConcussionDoctor Who) and Canada’s Mackenzie Davis (The F Word, Halt and Catch Fire, The Martian) have been cast in lead roles in one of the episodes of the Netflix original series Black Mirror. Owen Harris (Kill Your Friends) will direct the episode.

Netflix will debut the series Flaked, which stars Will Arnett, on March 11. Arnett plays Chip, a celebrated long-time resident of Venice, California who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination.

Also coming soon to Netflix is The Ranch, the first ten episodes of which premiere globally April 1. The multi-camera comedy series stars Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson, Sam Elliott and Debra Winger.

The same day, Lost & Found Music Studios makes its debut. The live-action series is part of Netflix’s slate of tween and teen content. The animated kids’ series Kong: King of the Apes, which comes from executive producer Avi Arad, launches globally on April 15.

The second installment of the comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt premieres globally April 15, while the drama Marseille makes its global debut on May 5. Grace and Frankie, which stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, returns the following day, May 6.

June will see the debut of the preschool series Word Party, which comes from The Jim Henson Company. That series will debut June 3, while the hit Orange is the New Black makes its return for season four on June 17.

The new drama Stranger Things, written and directed by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines, Hidden), kicks off July 15. The first six episodes of Baz Luhrmann’s music-driven drama The Get Down will become available on August 12.
