Managing Director, International Affairs, Telewizja Polska

What is it about your MIPTV properties that makes them appealing for the international market?
This year we would like to focus on a new TVP offer and reviewed materials that can fit into our buyers’ needs and also will be recognized by audience as fresh and valuable.
Most important both for Polish and all Classic Music Lovers is Frederic Chopin’s 200th birth anniversary. We would like to present wide range of documentaries and concerts related to Frederic Chopin’s Piano Competitions. Together we decided to offer this footage as Frederic Chopin and his music (1810-1849) – 200th Anniversary .
Next, very important set of documentaries are materials related to John Paul the 2nd that can be very interesting in the day of beatification process completes.
New broadcasters’, producers’ and distributors’ needs direct us to present wide formats offer: from TV series through entertainment and children programs.
One of the best rated this year’s TV series—The Blonde will be one of the most important productions that we would like to promote during market.
Sylvia, 25 years old vet is a beautiful, warm, open minded girl. She can appear naive but in fact she is very ambitious and assertive. She believes that people are inherently good and can not accept that in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, life is dictated by careerists and is full of evil and machinations.
She moves to Majaki in searching of better reality. Main plot of the series is that her obduracy in fighting for this dream changes the world. Sylvia can be anybody of us – she is a personalization of any young person who makes mistakes but has the courage to go on against all odds.
The last proposition is Decalogue after Decalogue, ten short feature movies cycle which are the tribute to famous polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski and his “Decalogue” production.

What are your overall expectations and plans for MIPTV?
This year at MIPTV we are planning to present a new approach to the archival materials offered to the buyers as a package footage. We have also high hopes for format distribution. We would also like to extend our business with developing countries of Eastern Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa and South America. We believe that this year’s offer will be more flexible and build up with understanding all of our clients’ needs in the days of cutting costs and budget plans.
