Malaysia’s Media Prima Debuts Online Video Site

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian conglomerate Media Prima Berhad has launched an online video site, TonTon, featuring movies and dramas from the Hollywood studios, as well as Asian content.

Development of TonTon was led by Alt Media, Media Prima’s digital communications and broadcasting subsidiary. “TonTon will redefine how online video content is accessed as it offers an amazing world-class experience that is customized and personalized, while allowing the user to stay connected to social networks, which makes the transition from mobile to PC and TV seamless," said Ahmad Izham Omar, CEO of Alt Media.

The site is ad-supported, using demographic and behavioral data to serve up customized content and advertising. “Such sophisticated intelligence is highly sought-after by advertisers, as it leads to minimal wastage in advertising spend and allow the activation of more strategic campaigns,” said Izham.

Dato’ Amrin Awaluddin, group managing director of Media Prima, said TonTon will complement the company’s free-to-air TV and radio stations.
