Mad Money Set for Lifetime Broadcast

BURBANK: Lifetime Television has picked up the basic cable premiere rights to Overture Films’ Mad Money from Starz Media.

The film follows a woman on the verge of losing her upper-middle-class lifestyle, and takes on a job as a janitor at the Federal Reserve Bank. There, she bonds with two other employees, and the trio hatch a plan to smuggle soon-to-be-destroyed currency out of the Reserve. The film stars Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes.

“With its all-star cast and hilarious story, Mad Money is exactly the kind of movie that will appeal to our viewers,” said JoAnn Alfano, the executive VP of entertainment for Lifetime Networks. “We’re very happy to have Mad Money as part of our lineup, as it will further strengthen Lifetime’s diverse slate of programming that spans original movies and series, as well as acquired films and off-net shows.”

“Whether we’re dealing with Overture’s theatrical slate or the TV movies we produced, we’ve had a positive and rewarding relationship with Lifetime,” commented Gene George, the executive VP of worldwide distribution for Starz Media. “Lifetime is the perfect platform for this movie and we are sure it will be a great success.”
