LPG, KPI Prep Spring Launch for Drama and Doc Series

NEW YORK, May 2:
Lightworks Producing Group (LPG) and KPI, its production unit, will launch a
range of dramas and documentaries this spring on BBC One, History and
Smithsonian Networks, with a launch on HGTV to follow.

The two-hour special Clash
of the Cavemen
, which follows the
Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons, will debut on History, along with the six-hour
series Mega Disasters: Season Three,
a program that uses CGI to simulate how our modern cities might hold up if
faced with global catastrophes.

The Sweet Lady with the
Nasty Voice
, a documentary that
chronicles the life of Wanda Jackson, the first female rockabilly musician,
will premiere on Smithsonian Networks. A later launch for Xtreme Building, a 13-episode series that looks at homes made
possible through feats of engineering and architecture, is set for HGTV.

“We are extremely pleased
to announce the premiere of these specials and series with this stellar group
of broadcasters,” said Jeffrey C. Weber, the president of Lightworks Producing
Group. “We’re especially proud of the range of subjects and styles—from
high-end period drama and science to classic rock ‘n’ roll. This is a slate of
new production that we’ll gladly hold up next to any other production
company.”

Added Vinnie Kralyevich,
KPI’s chief creative officer, “In the past few months, our production teams
have been working on four continents, revealing new information and using
cutting-edge computer graphics to visualize incredible stories.”
