LONDON: Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance stage production is getting the 3D treatment from Nineteen Fifteen and ITN Productions.

The 3D movie experience, Lord of the Dance 3D, is a collaboration between Nineteen Fifteen’s multi-camera specialist and director Marcus Viner and Flatley. The stage production has a new set design, lighting, special effects and costumes.

Vicki Betihavas, co-founder of Nineteen Fifteen and producer of Lord of the Dance in 3D, commented: “The stage show has thrilled audiences all over the world, and filming in 3D intensifies the experience. We worked closely with Michael Flatley and Marcus Viner to ensure the 3D filming techniques encapsulated the incredible skill of the choreography and the magnificence of the production. We are delighted with the result, which is a sensory cinematic feast.”

Mark Browning, the managing director of ITN Productions, said: “This marks our first venture into film production, and we are incredibly proud to be working with someone as inspirational as Michael Flatley and with a production house as industry-renowned as Nineteen Fifteen. As seasoned content producers for major entertainment brands, this is a natural next-step for ITN Productions and one which extends our reach into the wider market place.”

Commenting on the film, Flatley added: “Between the grand scale of the show, transforming it into 3D, total access to the cast, Lord of the Dance in 3D creates an experience as if the audience is right with me on stage. Never before and perhaps never again will anyone be able to experience Lord of the Dance like this. We have toured all over the world for almost two decades, however there have been cities that we could not accommodate due to the grand scale of the production. Now with a 3D movie we are finally able to reach those audiences and I promise we won’t disappoint. I have poured my soul into its creation and I believe this movie has captured the raw energy and spirit of the show. It is filled with passion, drama and excitement and will entertain lovers of movies, dance and music in a way they’ve never experienced.”
