LIVING Commissions Pilot for Jeff Brazier Fact-Ent Series

LONDON: The newly commissioned LIVING pilot Superdaddy will feature Jeff Brazier, the widowed father of two sons with Jade Goody, as he juggles his role as a single parent with his professional life.

The hour-long project will follow Brazier at home in his daily routine, both as a father and as a professional. Following the death of his son’s mother, reality star Jade Goody, Brazier set up two online parental support groups to offer advice and support to almost 1,500 members.

Together with psychiatrist Sandra Scott, who has been working with Brazier for more than a year, and a family lawyer, Brazier uses his insight and natural ability to communicate and connect with parents in conflict. Brazier and the team will try to resolve the parents’ conflict. In a dramatic ‘lock in’ the family are forced to confront each other and battle out their issues. Then Brazier spends time reflecting on the footage captured from the sessions with both parents individually, examining issues and setting goals for both. The show culminates with feedback from the whole family, including the children.

The factual-entertainment pilot will be filmed exclusively for LIVING by Granada Media.

Sarah Caplin, the executive producer for Granada Media, said, “Having worked with Jade over the last few years we obviously got to know Jeff. It was impressive how he managed to share the parenting role with Jade so successfully even after they separated and he’s been doing an incredible job as a single parent since Jade’s tragic death. We’re delighted that Jeff chose to work with the production team and the channel that Jade trusted most to make this show about something he is so passionate about—being the best father he possibly can be and helping others to do the same.”

Brazier commented, “The last few months have been really tough but hugely rewarding. I had no idea what effect losing their mum would have on my children but I had to believe in myself as a dad and devote myself to their needs. I feel proud of the job I’ve done so far but I may not have been so capable if I hadn’t played such a consistent role in their lives beforehand. I put this down to Jade and I successfully communicating and compromising with each other wherever possible. With everything I’ve learnt in the last year I want to help others in a similar position, so many problems can be resolved if we take the correct steps and most importantly always put our children first.”

LIVING’s commissioning editor, Sophie Wurzer-Williams, added: “To those who know Jeff he just IS a SUPERDAD. What he has faced over the last year and how he has faced it all in the full glare of the public eye is inspirational. This program will allow him to share some of his huge experience and warmth and humor with others facing similar challenges.”
