Live Earth Hails Online Success

LOS ANGELES, July 10: According to the organizers of last
weekend’s Live Earth series of concerts, the event was viewed by 8 million
people on MSN, streaming 30 million videos, for what is being called the
largest audience ever for an online concert.

MSN, Live Earth's official online partner, broadcast the
entire concert series live. More than 15 million video streams were seen during
the live coverage by over 8 million people and more than 237,000 people watched
the video streaming coverage from MSN simultaneously.

"July 7, 2007 was the greatest day in the history of
MSN,” said Joanne Bradford, the corporate VP and chief media officer of MSN.
“Our Live Earth offering has delivered more than 30 million video streams to
over 8 million people around the world, a milestone in online history. We are
beyond thrilled that MSN connected a global audience together for this
important issue and invite people to explore the in-depth experience available
on MSN, which millions are continuing to enjoy."

The TV ratings, however, have been less impressive in key
markets like the U.S. and the U.K. According to reports, NBC averaged just 2.7
million viewers for its three-hour coverage, making it the least-watched
network show on Saturday night, where it was up against a rerun of the animated
feature Monster’s Inc. on ABC and the
newsmagazine 48 Hours on CBS.
NBC’s coverage of the Concert for Diana the weekend before delivered 8.8
million viewers.

The situation was similar in the U.K., where BBC One secured
3.1 million viewers for Live Earth, versus 11.4 million for the Concert for
Diana.

Among the other broadcasters that covered the event were
Shanghai Media Group and CTV in China, ProSieben in Germany, TV Globo in
Brazil, Fuji TV and NHK in Japan, the SABC in South Africa and Australia’s
Foxtel.
