Lionsgate’s Mad Men, The Lost Room in Asian Deals

SANTA MONICA, October 13: Japan’s Pony Canyon has taken on
the broadcast and DVD rights for the first two seasons of Lionsgate’s Emmy Award-winning
drama Mad Men, as well as the sci-fi
thriller The Lost Room.

Pony Canyon also negotiated to acquire the future third
season of Mad Men upon its official
order, which is expected in the coming months. Set in New York in the 1960s,
the series looks at the personal and professional lives of a group of
advertising executives. Mad Men
is created, executive produced and written by Matthew Weiner (The
Sopranos
).

The Lost Room, which
stars Peter Krause (Six Feet Under)
and Julianna Margulies (ER), follows
a homicide detective who stumbles upon a motel room key that unlocks a door
into a world where ordinary objects possess extraordinary powers.

Tim Stuart, the VP of sales for Asia Pacific at Lionsgate,
commented, “Our partnership with Pony Canyon continues to grow with another
impactful acquisition in Mad Men, which
builds on developing a stronger presence of our programming across all forms of
media in Japan.”

Hideki Oyagi, the executive director of visual entertainment
for Pony Canyon, added, “Lionsgate’s television drama always has a unique and
twisted style which we find very appealing to sophisticated audiences,
including OTAKU in Japan. We would like to make Lionsgate a popular drama brand
in Japan.”
