Lifetime Takes Grey’s Anatomy

NEW YORK, July 24: Lifetime Television has beaten Oxygen to
secure the basic cable rights to Buena Vista Television’s ABC medical drama Grey’s
Anatomy
, beginning in fall 2009.

Last week, Oxygen was rumored to be on the brink of sealing
a deal for the hit show, the first season of which will begin airing on
Lifetime once a week starting in January 2007. “This is an extraordinary show
that tells powerful stories of love, hope and sometimes despair, as seen
through the lives of an amazingly gifted ensemble cast,” said Leslie
Glenn-Chesloff, the SVP of acquisitions, scheduling and planning at Lifetime
Television. “Women all over the country—including all of us here at
Lifetime—absolutely adore this wonderful series and we're thrilled that
it's joining our schedule."

Grey's Anatomy, which
was nominated for 11 Emmy Awards this year, will join the fellow ABC series Desperate
Housewives
on the Lifetime schedule.
