Legendary Political Journalist at the Center of HBO Doc

NEW YORK, August 1: Thank
You, Mr. President: Helen Thomas at the White House, which recounts the life and career of the woman
dubbed the “First Lady of the Press,” will debut on August 18 as part of the
HBO Documentary Films summer series.

The program features a
one-on-one interview between Thomas and award-winning director Rory Kennedy,
looking not only at the career of this Washington reporter, but also at her
life beyond her work. For more than six decades, Thomas has been reporting at
White House press conferences, covering nine presidents. Now in her 80s, she
sits down in an exclusive interview to talk about the distinctive personalities
and foibles of the presidents she has covered in her years.
