Buyers at the L.A. Screenings were confronted with an abundance of new product by the studios last week as the broadcast networks seek to recover from what was a challenging year, reports our contributing editor, Elizabeth Guider. She also surveyed the independent scene at the Hyatt Century Plaza, and delivered recaps of the presentations by Disney Media Distribution, Warner Bros., Twentieth Century Fox, CBS Studios International, NBCUniversal and Sony Pictures Television.

Kicking off Upfront week, NBC announced a schedule that includes some big new comedies, alongside a number of dramas. FOX unveiled its new lineup, which features a limited-run return for 24. ABC added a slew of new shows and announced a new scheduling strategy built around limited-run series. CBS picked up five new comedies and three dramas. The CW shuffled its schedule, moving returning shows to new nights, paired with new originals.
