L.A. Screenings Buyer Feedback: Televisa

LOS
ANGELES/MEXICO CITY, June 5: Carlos Sandoval, the managing director of content
acquisitions at Mexican media giant Televisa, offers World Screen Newsflash his
view of the new shows presented at the L.A. Screenings.

Sandoval was quite bullish
about the shows he saw. “I believe the 2007 L.A.
Screenings has been the best one in the last two or three years,” he says. “The
quality of the pilots and their stories are very good in general. Every studio
has great product and it will be a very competitive year.”

He says he is
currently in talks with several studios and, “we don’t want to reveal our hand
too soon. We have some output deals in place, so we will be getting very good
product through our existing deals.”

While he
admits that, “it is hard to pick up a clear trend this year because the product
is so diverse and broad, we can see a tendency towards women lead characters or
“all women” cast programs such as: Canterbury’s Law, Bionic Woman, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Lipstick Jungle, Cashmere Mafia and Women’s Murder Club.”
