Konami, FremantleMedia Unveil New Idol Game

EL SEGUNDO, July 16:
Konami Digital Entertainment and FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) are
developing a new American Idol-based
video game for the Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles.

Karaoke Revolution
Presents: American Idol Encore 2

is slated to launch in time for the holiday season. It lets players sing and
perform through a full season of competition and features digital versions of
judges Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell.

“For the first time ever,
a Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore game will be available during the holiday shopping
season, allowing Idol fans the
opportunity to give their friends and family the ultimate gift—the chance
to feel like they are competing for the real thing,” said Anthony Crouts, the
VP of marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment.

“This is a great franchise
for American Idol fans and gamers
alike,” added David Luner, the senior VP
of interactive and consumer products for North America at FME. “We felt the holiday launch timing was a perfect
lead-in for the eighth season of the show, while providing yet another
opportunity for Idol devotees
to enjoy the series year round.”
