KidsCo Launches in Spain

LONDON, May 9: KidsCo has
debuted in Spain via local operator Teuve, and will also roll out a VOD service
later this year.

Programming for the region
will include the preschool programs Strawberry Shortcake, Boobah, Maggie and the Ferocious Beast, Dennis the Menace
and Care Bears, along with
older-skewing properties like Sabrina, Inspector Gadget, Rescue
Heroes
and Sonic the Hedgehog. Additionally, KidsCo’s Family Zone will offer
feature-length movies.

The channel is a joint
venture owned by NBC Universal, DIC Entertainment and Corus Entertainment. It
is largely programmed from the vaults of DIC and Corus’ Nelvana, which have a
combined library of more than 6,200 half hours of kids’ programming. The
network is currently on air in Romania, Ukraine, the Middle East, Hungary,
Russia, Turkey, Poland, Singapore, the Philippines, South Korea, Hong Kong and
countries across sub-Saharan Africa.

Graeme Stanley, the managing director of Teuve, said: “We are delighted
to be working with KidsCo and look forward to the introduction of quality
programming for Spanish television viewers.”

“Marking the beginning of
our rollout through Western Europe, we are thrilled to launch KidsCo in Spain
through Teuve,” commented Jeffrey Edell, the president and COO of DIC
Entertainment. “We are excited with the positive reception from platform
providers around the world, and the tremendous growth and momentum of the
