JimJam Set for Launch in Israel

LONDON: JimJam has secured carriage with Israeli satellite broadcaster YES, which will launch the preschool channel as a 24-hour service in January 2010.

The channel will be included as part of the platform’s basic tier, reaching 560,000 subscribers. JimJam will initially broadcast in English and Russian. The channel is a joint venture between HIT Entertainment and Chello Zone, and is now available in more than 50 countries and in ten different languages.

“We are very pleased to add JimJam to our roster of channels,” said Michal Rafaeli-Kaduri, the VP of regulation and legal affairs at YES.  “JimJam offers an unrivalled array of the world’s best-loved preschool TV characters and we are confident their arrival on yes will prove hugely popular with existing viewers and attract new subscribers.”

“JimJam is rapidly expanding internationally and we are thrilled to now be introducing our hugely popular lineup of preschool shows to families in Israel,” added Wayne Dunsford, JimJam’s general manager. “YES is the market leader in DTH broadcasting in Israel and is the perfect platform for us to ensure that JimJam reaches its full potential in the region.”
