JCC Takes The Jungle Book

HYDERABAD: DQ Entertainment has sold its 52×11-minute series and hour-long feature of The Jungle Book to Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (JCC), with exclusive broadcasting rights across 22 Arabic countries for five years.

The Arabic version of The Jungle Book will air in 3D CGI across territories such as Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, U.A.E. and Yemen through JCC’s feeds on Arabsat, Nilesat, Hotbird and Eurobird.

Tapaas Chakravarti, the chairman and CEO of DQE, said, “The broadcast licensing agreement with Al Jazeera for our Jungle Book TV series is testament to the universal appeal of our Jungle Book adaptation. This strategic relationship is of immense value to DQE and can potentially provide the launch pad to many more commercial and strategic alliances.”

Malika Alouane, the director of channels’ programming at JCC, added: “We are delighted to obtain the Arabic rights for The Jungle Book animated series and adapt it to our audience. The story book is a classic and well in line with many stories told across the vast territories JCC covers; in some countries, it is introduced in schools as part of students’ curriculum.”

“We are pleased to partner with DQE and surely appreciate the quality they have achieved in bringing to life this promising children TV content,” she concluded.
