ITV Studios’ Pasapalabra Heads to Turkey

LONDON: ITV Studios, Global Entertainment has licensed its hit entertainment format Pasapalabra to Turkey’s Star TV, which will air the show in prime time.

Turkey’s Medyapim will produce the 40×1-hour adaptation. Pasapalabra challenges celebrities and members of the public to compete in fun-filled games testing their powers of creativity, ingenuity and imagination as they make their way through the alphabet. This deal follows the recent commission for ITV Studios to co-produce 300 new episodes of Pasapalabra for Telecinco in Spain, where the series is consistently the top rating show in the 8 p.m. hour. The show also premiered earlier this month on France 2 as En Toutes Lettres. It’s stripped in France every weekday from 6 p.m.

Tobi de Graaff, the director of global TV distribution at ITV Global Entertainment, said: “Pasapalabra is an exceptional format which has strong appeal to our international clients. Its achievements in Spain and France look set to be replicated in Turkey this autumn with further broadcasters lining up to become part of its growing international success.”

Remy Blumenfeld, the director of formats at ITV Studios, added, “Star TV’s commission continues our strategy of developing new global production partnerships by supporting our formats with ITV’s renowned expertise and knowledge. Pasapalabra is an excellent example of this success.”
