LONDON: ITV Studios Global Entertainment has launched the new entertainment series A Different Breed at MIPTV, with the show slated to premiere on the U.K.’s Sky 1 on April 6.

The 8×1-hour series centers on an eclectic group of people who work in places such as dog grooming salons, kennels and vets, as well as the peculiar dog owners that frequent those establishments. In A Different Breed, editing tricks and scripted voice-overs are used to impose thoughts and voices onto the pets to imply what they would say if they could talk.

Richard Life, the head of acquisitions and co-productions at ITV Studios Global Entertainment, commented: “We’re delighted to continue our strong relationship with the team at Pulse Films through the acquisition of their exciting new series.  International broadcasters and audiences alike have come to know and love the uniquely fabulous style of Pineapple Dance Studios and Louie Spence’s Showbusiness and we expect A Different Breed to be in similarly hot demand.”

Thomas Benski at Pulse Films, added: “ITV Studios Global Entertainment has achieved fantastic success launching Pineapple Dance Studios and Louie Spence’s Showbusiness around the world and we are looking forward to teaming up with them again on this fascinating and hilarious new series.  From the pampered Chihuahua, the streetwise Pit-Bull and the sex-mad poodle to their obsessed owners, A Different Breed is packed with shockingly funny characters, promising a truly indefinable show which is sure to get everyone talking.”
