ITV, Pact in New Media Agreement

LONDON, June 19: ITV has reached an agreement with the trade
body Pact over the online, VOD and mobile rights to independent productions.

According to the new terms of trade, ITV can offer shows on demand
during the run of a series or up to 30 days after initial broadcast. Further,
it can offer programs commissioned from independent producers on all platforms,
including mobile and broadband.

ITV has also modified the terms of its primary licensing
deals to allow producers to exploit rights previously held exclusively by
ITV.

Commenting on the new terms of trade, Simon Shaps, the
director of television for ITV, noted, “This is great news for ITV’s viewers
who in future will have much greater flexibility in how and when they watch
their favorite shows. ITV has long been considered the best deal in town for
independent producers. These modernized terms of trade mean we are now fit for
purpose for the digital age and can look forward to a continued strong and
profitable relationship with the independent sector.”

Alex Graham, Pact’s chairman and chief executive of Wall to
Wall, added, “Pact has sought to strike a balanced deal that ensures producers
will benefit from new revenues generated by ITV's VOD services. Furthermore,
the new holdback policy will enable producers to release more programs earlier
to the secondary U.K. TV market, which represents a significant new revenue
stream for the sector.”

Pact recently inked similar agreements with the BBC and with
Channel 4.
