Italian Pickup for Borgia

MUNICH: The pay-TV service Sky Italia is the latest broadcaster on board for Tom Fontana’s Borgia, with the sale secured by Beta Film.

The 12×1-hour series focuses on the scandal-ridden Renaissance papal clan. The show, budgeted at $30 million, is from scriptwriter and producer Tom Fontana, the showrunner behind such series as Bedford Diaries and Homicide. Borgia is a production of Atlantique Production, EOS Entertainment, Canal + and Etic Film in association with ZDF and ORF. Along with Sky Italia, the show has been picked up by HBO Latin America, France’s Canal+, Germany’s ZDF and ORF in Austria.
