IOC YouTube Channel to Offer London Olympics Coverage in Asia, Africa

LAUSANNE: The International Olympic Committee will use its YouTube channel to deliver a free live stream from the London 2012 Olympic Games to 64 African and Asian territories.

The YouTube channel will be accessible in those Asian territories where the digital broadcast rights to the Games have not been acquired: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, Bhutan, Cambodia, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Iran, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. In 42 Sub-Saharan African nations, the IOC YouTube channel will deliver the games on a non-exclusive basis.

The stream will encompass 11 simultaneous HD broadcasts live from the events, plus a 24-hour broadcast of the Olympic News Channel, featuring summaries and interviews with Olympians. In total, the IOC’s YouTube channel will offer over 2,200 hours hours of sporting event coverage from London 2012.
