IOC Awards 2010 Games to Taiwanese Platform

LAUSANNE: The International Olympic Committee has reached a multiplatform deal with ELTA Technology for the broadcast rights to the 2010 Winter Games in Chinese Taipei (Taiwan).

The deal, which also covers the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010, grants ELTA the rights for free-to-air television, subscription television, radio, the Internet and mobile. "We are delighted to be working with ELTA to bring extensive coverage of the Winter Games to Chinese Taipei for the first time, as well as coverage of the first ever Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Singapore next summer," said IOC’s president, Jacques Rogge.

ELTA previously secured the rights to the 2008 games in Beijing. Sally Chen, the CEO of ELTA, said "We are excited to bring both Olympic events to our audiences following the success of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. We shall enable coverage of the Games to all audiences via different media and services. For the first time in Chinese Taipei, the Winter Games will be experienced by viewers in full."
