iCarly Renewed for Fifth Season

NEW YORK: On the heels of a recent episode that delivered 7.4 million viewers, iCarly has been given a fifth-season renewal by Nickelodeon for premiere in 2012.

The recent episode on April 9 secured a whopping 7.4 million viewers, establishing it as basic cable’s top show with all viewers that week. The episode, "iOMG," also ranks as the top telecast with all kid and tween demos on all TV and is basic cable’s top kids’ telecast with total viewers. The show is the brainchild of live-action tween producer Dan Schneider, who is also behind the current hit Victorious.

"Our audience will be psyched to get more of what they love—new episodes of their favorite show, iCarly," said Marjorie Cohn, the president of original programming and development at Nickelodeon. "We are excited to see what Dan Schneider will do next with our favorite characters."
