HIT Entertainment Appoints U.K. Publishing Partner for Rainbow Magic

LONDON, August 9: HIT Entertainment has appointed Orchard
Books as its publishing partner in the U.K. for the girl-skewing animated
property Rainbow Magic.

Over a five-year period, Orchard Books, who published
the original Rainbow Magic books, will
publish all English-language releases in the U.K. and Commonwealth territories.
Orchard will publish all new and existing chapter books and plans to launch new
formats in 2008 that include novelty, coloring and activity books and an
annual. First published in 2003, there are 60 existing books in the Rainbow
Magic
series, with the eighth series, Dance
Fairies, due for release in September.

HIT Entertainment, who acquired Rainbow Magic earlier this year, is developing a television series
based on the books. The company will be offering a preview of the Rainbow
Magic
television series at the Brand
Licensing Show in London and at MIPCOM this October. Rainbow Magic books have been published in over 20 countries,
selling over 15 million books around the world. Targeted at girls aged 5-9, the
books are focused on two ordinary girls and their fairy friends.

Katie Price, the director of publishing at HIT
Entertainment, commented, “Orchard Books have a proven track record in
children’s publishing and are responsible for making Rainbow Magic the huge success that it is today. We are delighted
to be continuing our relationship with Orchard and look forward to the exciting
new formats in 2008.”
