LONDON: HISTORY in the U.K. has commissioned Shaun Ryder On UFOs, a new series from the production company Back2back.

The eight-episode hour-long series features Ryder, who claims to have seen a UFO at the age of 15 and attributes other out of body experiences to alien involvement. He travels the world to explore the history of UFO sightings, beginning in his Manchester back-garden, then heads to the U.S., where more than 4 million citizens believe they have been abducted by aliens. He investigates the Mayan ruins of Peru and Chile, the aboriginal cave paintings of extra-terrestrials in Australia and more.

Adam MacDonald, the VP of programming at A+E Networks U.K., said: “We are always looking to commission programming that delivers history in a new and entertaining way and we jumped at the chance of working with Shaun Ryder who has a real passion for this subject. This commission continues our search for exclusive, passionate, characterful ‘talked about’ history TV—and aliens.”

David Notman-Watt, the executive producer/managing director of Back2back productions, added: “In a few sweaty days in an Australian jungle, Shaun Ryder managed to transform himself from rock ’n’ roll icon into the nation’s naughty uncle. Now, this life-long UFO believer embarks on a worldwide investigation uncovering the secrets, myths and experiences of the experts and eccentrics who are in close contact with outer space. Having himself come into contact with extra-terrestrials, this is a no-holds barred, brutally honest quest for the truth.”
