History Channel Latin America Wraps Production on New Series

MIAMI, March 26:
Production wraps this week on The History Channel Latin America’s new original
series Historia Extrema (Extreme
History
), a historical adventure
challenge produced by Endemol Argentina.

Set in the rugged terrain
of the Andes near Mendoza, Argentina, and hosted by Mexican actor Julio Bracho,
the series, shot over 20 days, enlisted more than 15 cameras, 100 crew, 12
contestants and the Argentine Army in recreating some of the extreme challenges
faced nearly 200 years ago by General Jose de San Martin and his men in their
epic crossing of the Andes to free Chile from Spanish rule.

The contestants, from
Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile and Colombia, are vying for the title of
“Liberator” and cash prizes by passing a variety of grueling tests of physical,
mental and emotional endurance. Many involve the tools and implements available
at the time of General San Martin.

“Historia Extrema represents the channel’s most ambitious original
production to date in the region,” stated Miguel Brailovsky, the executive
producer for The History Channel. “More than 600 candidates were screened from
casting calls throughout the region to arrive at the twelve contestants with
the broadest skills, interests and abilities to face the extreme conditions and
rugged terrain of the Andes.”

Eddy Ruiz, the executive
VP and general manager of A&E Ole Networks, added: “Historia Extrema offers unique and powerful product integration
opportunities which raise the bar on branded entertainment.”

Historia Extrema is scheduled to debut in June on The History
Channel Latin America, which reaches more than 21 million households across the
region.
