CANNES/NEW YORK, October 4: AMC/Sundance Channel Global has picked up the rights to a range of new series for its international channel portfolio in 2012, including Hell on Wheels and Breaking Bad.

From Entertainment One Television (eOne), AMC/Sundance Channel Global scored the premiere window rights to Hell on Wheels—debuting on AMC in the U.S. this fall—for Sundance Channel in Asia. A previously announced deal with Endemol Worldwide Distribution, meanwhile, gives Sundance Channel the premiere window rights in Portugal and CEE and broadcast rights in Spain to the show, a contemporary western that takes place after the American civil war.

Sundance Channel in Asia also secured the premiere window rights for all four seasons of Breaking Bad from Sony Pictures Television.
In a deal that covers its channels in Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey and Asia, Sundance Channel nabbed DCD Rights’ The Slap, a drama series based on the bestselling book by Christos Tsiolkas about the repercussions of an adult slapping an unrelated young child at a barbecue attended by a group of family and friends.

For WE tv Asia, meanwhile, comes Shannen Says, a reality series from its sister U.S. channel that focuses on actress Shannen Doherty (Charmed, Beverly Hills 90210) and her relationship with photographer Kurt Iswarienko.

“These new productions and award-winning series will offer our international audiences access to a wide range of great entertainment—from provocative drama to appealing characters and engaging personalities,” said Harold Gronenthal, the senior VP and general manager of AMC/Sundance Channel Global. “Through acquisitions and original programming, we are committed to providing a diverse lineup of high quality programming to serve audiences for Sundance Channel Global and WE tv Asia.”
