HBO to Air Granada/C4 Drama

NEW YORK, October 12: This
November, HBO will broadcast The Deal, the Granada Television and Channel 4 production that dramatizes the
alleged secret pact between British politicians Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

The HBO Films
presentation, set for a November 8 broadcast, is from director Stephen Frears,
screenwriter-executive producer Peter Morgan, executive producer Andy Harries
and producer Christine Langan, the Oscar-nominated team behind The Queen. It stars Michael Sheen and David Morrissey.Based on actual events and parliamentary record, The
Deal
portrays the enduring, complex and often tense relationship
between Blair and Brown, exploring what lies behind their bond. The drama charts their rise from 1983 to their infamous dinner at
Granita in 1994, when Brown (David Morrissey)
buried his lifelong ambition to lead the Labour Party in favor of Blair
(Michael Sheen), his close friend and former protégé. The Deal shows how Blair and Brown formed the heart of
England’s Labour Party and controlled the country’s politics beginning in 1997,
becoming known for consulting and supporting each
other on many decisions in an unprecedented partnership.
