HBO Series Lead Emmy Nominations

The nominees for the 75th Emmy Awards have been unveiled, with HBO’s Succession securing 27 nominations, followed by The Last of Us with 24 and The White Lotus with 23.

Up for best drama series are Disney+’s Andor, AMC’s Better Caul Saul, Netflix’s The Crown, Showtime’s Yellowjackets and HBO’s House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, Succession and The White Lotus.

Best comedy series nominees are ABC’s Abbott Elementary, HBO’s Barry, FX’s The Bear, Amazon Freevee’s Jury Duty, Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso and Netflix’s Wednesday.

In the limited or anthology series category, Netflix’s Beef and Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Prime Video’s Daisy Jones & The Six, FX’s Fleishman is in Trouble and Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi are up for the award.

In the performance categories, there are 38 first-time nominees, and nine performers scored multiple nominations.

Nominees for best lead actress in a drama series are Sharon Horgan for Bad Sisters, Melanie Lynskey for Yellowjackets, Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid’s Tale, Bella Ramsey for The Last of Us, Keri Russell for The Diplomat and Sarah Snook for Succession. Up for best lead actor in a drama series are Jeff Bridges for The Old Man, Brian Cox for Succession, Kieran Culkin for Succession, Bob Odenkirk for Better Caul Saul, Pedro Pascal for The Last of Us and Jeremy Strong for Succession.

For supporting roles, nominated actresses are Jennifer Coolidge, Meghann Fahy, Sabrina Impacciatore, Aubrey Plaza and Simona Tabasco, all for The White Lotus, as well as The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki, Better Caul Saul’s Rhea Seehorn and Succession’s J. Smith-Cameron. Supporting actor contenders are Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen, Alan Ruck and Alexander Skarsgård for Succession and F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, Theo James and Will Sharpe for The White Lotus.

In the comedy category, lead actress nominees are Christina Applegate for Dead to Me, Rachel Brosnahan for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary, Natasha Lyonne for Poker Face and Jenna Ortega for Wednesday. Contenders in the actor category are Bill Hader for Barry, Jason Segel for Shrinking, Martin Short for Only Murders in the Building, Jason Sudeikis for Ted Lasso and Jeremy Allen White for The Bear.

Nominees for best supporting actress in a comedy series are The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Alex Borstsein, Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph, Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham, Shrinking’s Jessica Williams and The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri. Actors up for the supporting award are Barry’s Anthony Carrigan and Henry Winkler, Ted Lasso’s Phil Dunster and Brett Goldstein, Jury Duty’s James Marsden, The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Abbott Elementary’s Tyler James Williams.

For a limited or anthology series or movie, lead actress contenders are Lizzy Caplan (Fleishman is in Trouble), Jessica Chastain (George & Tammy), Dominique Fishback (Swarm), Kathryn Hahn (Tiny Beautiful Things), Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six) and Ali Wong (BEEF). Lead actor nominees are Taron Egerton (Black Bird), Kumail Nanjiani (Welcome to Chippendales), Evan Peters (Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Daniel Radcliffe (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story), Michael Shannon (George & Tammy) and Steven Yeun (BEEF).

Up for supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie are Annaleigh Ashford (Welcome to Chippendales), Maria Bello (BEEF), Claire Danes (Fleishman is in Trouble), Juliette Lewis (Welcome to Chippendales), Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & The Six), Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) and Merritt Wever (Tiny Beautiful Things). The actor category nominees are Murray Bartlett (Welcome to Chippendales), Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird), Richard Jenkins (Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Joseph Lee (BEEF), Ray Liotta (Black Bird), Young Mazino (BEEF) and Jesse Plemons (Love & Death).

In the nonscripted realm, up for best reality competition program are The Amazing Race (CBS), RuPaul’s Drag Race (MTV), Survivor (CBS), Top Chef (Bravo) and The Voice (NBC). In the new category for best game show, nominees are Family Feud (ABC), Jeopardy! (ABC), The Price is Right (CBS), That’s My Jam (NBC) and Wheel of Fortune (ABC).

The 75th Emmy Awards is scheduled to broadcast live on FOX on September 18 from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE. The 2023 Creative Arts Emmy Awards are scheduled to take place at the Peacock Theater over two nights on September 9 and 10. An edited presentation will air on September 16 on FXX.

There are more than 20,000 voting members of the Academy, and this year’s nominations marked the highest voter participation in Emmys history.
