HBO Films, BBC Two Begin Production on New Movie

LOS ANGELES, September 12: Production has begun in the U.K.
on Stuart: A Life Backwards, a co-production of HBO Films, BBC Two and Neal Street
Productions, based on a true story of an unusual alliance between a homeless
man and a writer.

Adapted by Alexander Masters from
his award-winning memoir of the same name and directed by David Attwood (To
the End of the Earth
), the film stars
Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy.

Stuart: A Life Backwards continues HBO Films’ tradition of presenting intelligent,
daring and imaginative material,” said Colin Callender, the president of HBO
Films. “Masters’ poignant retelling of this true story of the unlikely pairing
of two totally disparate young men, along with the reverse chronology of the
story-telling, makes the film a unique and deeply moving look at the plight of
the homeless.”
