Haber Sells Michael Jackson Anniversary Celebration

PALISADES PARK: In the wake of the passing of pop icon Michael Jackson, Alfred Haber Distribution, Inc. (AHDI) has closed a number of new international sales on the 2001-2002 CBS special Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration, The Solo Years.

The historic television music event—owned by World Events, a company formed by David Gest and Jackson—went on to become one of the highest-rated musical specials in television history. At the time of its broadcast, Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration, The Solo Years marked the King of Pop’s first live U.S. performance in nearly 11 years and was the first reunion with his brothers in 17 years. The special also includes an all-star tribute to Jackson by such legendary performers as Whitney Houston, Destiny’s Child, Usher, Luther Vandross, Marc Anthony and Gloria Estefan. The show features salutes from Elizabeth Taylor, Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Tucker.

Recent sales include Channel Five in the U.K., Televisa in Mexico, TV2 in Denmark, Seven Network in Australia, NHK in Japan, NRK in Norway, NRJ12 in France, A&E Mundo in Latin America, ABS-CBN in the Philippines, RCTI in Indonesia and e.tv in South Africa.

“This special is a shining example of the stuff of which legends are made…timeless and unequaled,” commented Alfred Haber, the founder of AHDI. “Its original worldwide ratings success in 2001 and again here in 2009 confirm that this is an extraordinary special with extraordinary performances and, as fate would have it, an extraordinary tribute to an extraordinary human being.”
