GSN, Two Way TV Bring Interactive Mobile to TV Programming in the U.S.

SANTA MONICA, June
7: This summer, GSN will be the first broadcast or cable network in the U.S. to
utilize Two Way TV’s Simcast technology, which will allow viewers to play along with their televisions in real-time
via their mobile phones.

At
launch, viewers can use “game texting” or SMS messaging, to play along with
GSN’s Monday prime-time casino programs, which includes High Stakes Poker and World Series of Blackjack. High Stakes
Poker
viewers will be offered a
series of cards on their TV screens and can accept cards via SMS messaging to
try to create the best possible hand. World Series of Blackjack players will have the opportunity to play against
the on-screen dealer by requesting cards to their mobile phones and attempting
to hit "21." Players of both
games will compete against other mobile contestants in real-time. The top 10
players will have their user names appear on leader boards on-screen.
Additional GSN game shows and reality series utilizing “game texting” will
subsequently roll out at a later date.

John
P. Roberts, the senior VP of digital media and interactive entertainment at GSN
stated: “Two Way TV takes our play-along interactivity to the next level. With
'game texting,' every viewer at home can easily participate in our casino
programming by using their cell phones. This opens the doors to new
opportunities in enhanced television and we're pleased to be the first to be
deploying it in the United States. There are now three ways for GSN viewers to
interact and engage. They can play-along with our two-screen
interactivity, through our participation TV programming block and 'game
texting' on cell phones.”
