Growth Continues for VeneMovies

MIAMI, September 15: To
celebrate its second year on the air, the pay-TV movie channel VeneMovies is
rolling out its signal in Houston, Texas, with a special offering set for
Hispanic Heritage Month.

VeneMovies, a 24-hour
Spanish-language offering launched in the U.S. and Puerto Rico by Venevision International,
has reached some one million subscribers in its two years on the air. The
service also features a website, which is being relaunched this month with a
new user-friendly design, and a VOD offering, which has shown monthly growth in
viewership. VeneMovies was initially launched through Comcast, and has expanded
to cable operators such as Cox and Cablevision.

“We are very proud of the
fact that we reached our second anniversary in midst of growth in terms of
distribution, revenues, popularity among the television audience and the
consolidation of our presence in the Spanish-language film industry,” said Luis
Villanueva, the company’s president and CEO. “It has been a time of many
satisfactions. We have delivered a channel just as we promised: modern,
up-to-date, with a look and feel comparable to those of the best channels in
its genre, and we are determined to maintain this commitment.”

“The excellence of our
films and the digital quality of our signal has resulted in an overall
acceptance by cable operators and subscribers throughout the United States,”
commented Alejandro Parisca, the general manager of VeneMovies. “This, and the
continuous progression of our marketing strategy designed for and targeting
local communities, guarantees the quality of our service and the satisfaction
of the Hispanic subscriber base across the country.”
