Greg Dyke to Chair Conservative Party Media Review

LONDON: Former BBC director-general Greg Dyke will chair a review of the U.K.’s creative industries by the Conservative Party, leading a panel that will include Shine’s Elisabeth Murdoch.

According to published reports, other members of the 12-person panel include Carphone Warehouse’s Charles Dunstone, Lastminute.com’s Brent Hoberman, Universal Music Group’s Lucian Grainge, Ingenious Media’s Kip Meek, Eidos’s Ian Livingstone and Microsoft’s Ashley Highfield. The group is slated to meet this fall to discuss how to sustain investment in British content and stimulate developments in new media, as well as maintain local media. 

"This review will look at the tangible, practical actions that need to happen if Britain is to capitalize on its competitive strength as one of the leading creators of digital in the world," said shadow culture secretary Jeremy Hunt.
