Globosat’s Brazilian Football Channel Launches in Nigeria

SÃO PAULO, March 12: Globosat has announced that Premier Football Club (PFC), its dedicated Brazilian football channel, will debut in Nigeria this month on Trend TV.

With only one year since its launch, PFC is already available in the U.S. through DISH Network and DIRECTV, as well as in Portugal via cable TV and in Uruguay through Nuevo Siglo and Monte Cable.

PFC is the first channel in Portuguese devoted entirely to Brazilian football fans abroad. The PFC channel, produced by Globosat, can be acquired by subscribers as an à¬a-carte channel or as part of a package of programs. Around 450 live games from the principal state competitions, the Brazilian Championship and others are available on the channel. Viewers will also have access to exclusive programs such as Arena SporTV, Troca de Passes and SporTV News, produced and broadcast by Globosat.

Apart from the live presentations, which occur from Tuesday to Sunday during the football season in Brazil, subscribers to PFC can watch replays everyday of at least four complete games. Between January and May, the channel screens state championships from S㯍Paulo, Santa Catarina, and Paranᠡpart from recorded games from the Pernambucano Championship. From May to December, the Brazilian Championship is screened from series A and B as well as futsal, female football, friendly games organized by Brazilian players and between season games played by teams.

“The launch of PFC in Nigeria takes our channel to yet another continent,” said Marcelo Spinola, Globo TV International’s director of international distribution. “Now we are showing the best of Brazilian football in Europe, the U.S., South America and Africa.”
