MADRID: Daniel Écija, Globomedia’s CEO, announced that the company and Antena 3 will co-produce Luna, el misterio de Calenda, which began shooting this week and will air on the Spanish broadcaster in prime time.

The series about werewolves is set in the XIX century, where a judge is sent to investigate the mysterious occurrences en the town in Calenda. The show stars Belén Rueda and Fran Perea.

Globomedia produces approximately 1,200 hours per year and currently has four shows in the top ten on Spanish broadcasters. The company is also making a comedy, untitled, set in a fashion magazine publication. The show is coproduced with Mediaset España for Telecinco.

“We’ll be making this show next year,” said Écija. “We’ll be telling the story of people who work in a fashion magazine along with ordinary folks who live in a city like Madrid or Barcelona. It’ll be a comedy, but we still haven’t decided on the tone.”

Alfonso Mardones at Globomedia also highlighted the production En el corazón del oceáno, a six-episode co-production with Antena 3 set in 1550, shot in Bogotá, Cartagena de Indias and Cádiz. “It’s our first experience in Colombia and it has been great.”

Globomedia produces the Spanish TV hits Águila roja (with a 29-percent share on TVE’s La1, becoming the number one fiction series in Spain for the last four seasons), Aída (garnering a 19.9-percent share on Telecinco), El barco (a 17.2-percent share on Antena 3) and Punta escarlata (with a 12.5-percent share on Telecinco), among others.
