Globo TV Renews Volume Deal with Ecuavisa

SÃO PAULO, June 9: Globo TV International has renewed a volume agreement to supply up to a 1,000 hours of programming per year to Ecuadorian broadcaster Ecuavisa until 2011, a 10-percent volume increase on the current agreement between the two companies.

The new deal is an expansion of a relationship between Globo and Ecuavisa that has already lasted 17 years. This is also Globo TV International’s first volume deal covering the sale of new product from its international catalogue, such as comedy series, fiction series and the Globo DOC documentaries. Ecuavisa will now be airing a minimum of three hours of Globo programming a day.

Globo’s telenovelas have been performing well in Ecuador. In addition to Little Missy, Ecuavisa is currently airing Pages of Life in prime time, which is leading its slot with a 32-percent share.

“Globo’s telenovelas have been an important differential in the content we offer in our prime time schedule,” stated Xavier Alvarado Robles, the president of Ecuavisa. “The quality of the production and the potential of Globo’s stories for social awareness contribute to the Top of Mind of which Ecuavisa is the leader in Ecuador in the category.”
