CANNES: Globo TV International has sold its new telenovela Paradise City—a key highlight at MIPTV this week—to ten countries in the three months since its NATPE debut.

An impossible love story between a girl considered a saint and the so-called son of the devil, the series has been licensed into Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Cuba, El Salvador, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

"We believe that this telenovela is a hot seller due to the delicacy with which topics like symbolism, faith and religion are dealt with, in addition to the credibility of Benedito Ruy Barbosa, who’s the author of great bestselling internationals like Terra Nostra and The King of the Cattle," said Raphael Corrêa Netto, the director of sales at Globo TV International.

In Brazil, the series, in a 6 p.m. time slot, has secured an average share of 52 percent. The cast includes Eriberto Leão and Nathalia Dill.
