Globo Renews Agreement with Mozambique’s STV

SÃO PAULO, June 16: Globo TV International has renewed its volume deal with Mozambique’s STV-Soico Televisão to provide its telenovelas, documentaries and comedy and drama series to viewers in Africa until 2011.

Beginning in 2009, more than 700 hours of TV Globo programming will be available for African viewers to watch annually. The deal, which extends until 2011, will see STV airing programs such as The Cleaning Lady, Antonia and Big Family, adding to its current roster that includes Tropical Paradise and Seven Sins.

Raphael Corrêa Netto, the director of international sales for Globo TV International, commented: “We are very happy with the contract with STV-Soico Televisão it proves that Africa is rapidly developing its market. Apart from that, we see in this company a partner that shares the same ideals of TV Globo in developing quality TV that invests in the technological area and the training of its professionals.”

Daniel David, the president of the administrative counsel of STV-Soico Televisão added: “The renewal of contract between STV-Soico Televisão and Globo TV International reinforces the importance that the Brazilian content has in our culture, social development and economy. We have historically acquired the main telenovelas produced by TV Globo and, this year, we will expand the variety with a section dedicated to humor and drama series, apart from documentaries. New genders that will bring us a great competitive differential.”
