Globo Offers Brazilian Fare to Asian Broadcasters

SINGAPORE, November 30: Globo TV International is at the
Asia Television Forum this week with three novelas—America, Student’s Heart and Capital Sin—and one mini-series, Seven Women.

“Asia is a strategic market for TV Globo International,”
said Rafael Corrêa, the sales director at Globo TV International. “We have
already closed a deal with a channel in Indonesia and our aim at ATF is to
deepen even further our contact with potential partners. We chose stories that
have the power to move audiences that are sophisticated and capable of
identifying on the screen the technical, aesthetic, and content qualities of TV
Globo productions. These are strong productions that have already performed
well in Brazil and other countries. And most important, they have the
characteristics that the Asian public look for.”

America has already
been sold to more than 20 countries in Europe, Latin America and Africa. It
secured a 71-percent share when broadcast in Brazil, 35 percent in Uruguay and
50 percent in Portugal. The cast includes Thiago Lacerda (Terra
Nostra
), Murilo Benício (The
Clone
) and Deborah Secco (Celebrity).

Student’s Heart,
which scored a 60-percent share in its home market, is about a young and
idealistic teacher who moves to a small college town to raise his son and
strengthen his relationship with his fiancée.

Capital Sin begins
with the story of a taxi driver who finds a suitcase filled with cash in his
car. Seven Women is a historical
mini-series that was filmed in four different Brazilian cities and directed by
Jayme Monjardim.
