Global Television Renews Original Drama Series

TORONTO, March 21:
Canwest-owned Global Television has ordered second seasons of three original
Canadian drama series: The Guard,
‘da Kink in my Hair and The
Best Years
.

The Guard, produced by Halifax Film and Brightlight
Pictures, is an action-packed drama series centered on four characters who risk
their lives working for the Canadian Coast Guard. In its first season, it was
the number one new Canadian original series in the key 18-to-49 demographic.

Shot in Toronto, Ontario, ‘da
Kink in my Hair
is a comedic drama
set in a busy hair salon. The show is produced by Barna-Alper, Trey Anthony,
Ngozika and Defiant Entertainment, and ranked as the number one new comedy of
the season for key demos in January.

The Best Years follows six young characters as they enter their
first year at university. The series is produced by Blueprint Entertainment and
was created by Aaron Martin (Degrassi: The Next Generation).

senior VP of drama and factual content for Canwest Broadcasting. "Our
commitment to bringing Canadian drama back to Canwest remains firm, and we
