Gemini Award Nominees Announced

TORONTO, August
28: The third season of Rhombus Media’s drama series Slings & Arrows leads the nominations for the 22nd Annual Gemini
Awards, which will
be presented by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television at the Conexus
Arts Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan, on October 28.

The Gemini Awards,
which recognizes the year’s best in Canadian English-language television, will
be broadcast on October 28 by CBC Television, while Global will kick off the
evening with its signature red carpet pre-show in a special broadcast of ET
Canada at The Gemini Awards.

There
were nominations in 91 program, craft and performance categories. Slings & Arrows picked up 14 nominations, followed by Shaftesbury
Films’ ReGenesis,
which came in second
with 12 nominations. Meanwhile, the dramatic series Intelligence from Haddock Entertainment and the CBC news information series
the fifth estate
tied
for 11 nominations each. The mini-series Dragon Boys, from Anchor Point Pictures, weighed in with nine nominations. The TV
movie Doomstown from
Sarrazin Couture Entertainment and the dramatic series Robson Arms tied for seven nominations each. The comedic series
Corner Gas, the
dramatic mini-series Answered by Fire and the performing arts program Roxana all picked up six nominations each,
while the TV movies Shades of Black, In God’s Country and The Robber Bride all scored five nominations each.

The Gemini 2007
News, Documentary and Sports Awards, the Lifestyle, Children’s and Youth Awards
and the Drama, Comedy and Variety Awards will be presented in Toronto at The
Liberty Grand on October 15, 16 and 17.
