FX Takes TV Rights for 2012

LOS ANGELES: The basic cable channel FX has picked up the rights to air 2012, the disaster movie that was first place at the box office this weekend, taking in an estimated $225 million worldwide.

From Roland Emmerich, the Sony Pictures movie drew in an estimated $65 million stateside and an additional $160 million overseas in its opening weekend. It will premiere on FX in the beginning of 2012

In addition to 2012, FX has acquired another Sony film that opened at number one this fall, the horror-comedy Zombieland, which will be available at the end of next year.
