Further Sales for DECODE’s Grandpa in My Pocket

TORONTO: DECODE Enterprises has notched up international sales in France, Scandinavia, Canada and Latin America for the family series Grandpa in My Pocket, produced by Adastra Creative.

Canal+ in France, French-speaking TFO and Knowledge in Canada, CBeebies Latin America, Norway’s NRK and MTV3 in Finland have all went for the 52×12-minute series. Grandpa in My Pocket has also been sold to CBeebies channels in Poland, South Africa and Asia, Canada’s TVO, Al Jazeera Children’s Channel and Australia’s ABC TV.

Josh Scherba, the VP of distribution at DECODE Enterprises, said: “This live-action series really stands out in the crowded preschool marketplace with a charming and humorous look at the relationship between grandparents and their grandchildren. It’s going from strength to strength on CBeebies in the U.K. and we anticipate a similar response in these new territories.”

Furthermore, DHX Licensing has appointed Australia’s Stella Projects to act as the licensing agent for Grandpa in My Pocket in Australia and New Zealand. Polly Beel, the director of licensing and marketing at DHX Licensing, said: “We’re very pleased to have Grahame [Grassby] and the team on board for Australia and New Zealand. The series is achieving excellent ratings on the ABC and Stella Projects is the ideal partner to build on this broadcast success in the consumer products arena.”

Grahame Grassby, the managing director at Stella Projects, commented, “Grandpa in My Pocket has been a standout ratings success on the BBC in the UK and this success is also now being experienced on ABC TV in Australia.”

 

Grassby added. “ABC Video/Roadshow will be releasing the DVDs in 2010 and we intend to build a very strong licensing program led by a solid book publishing platform to complement the TV series and the video releases.”
