PARIS: The Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) has put out a call for applications for six HD channels to broadcast on France’s DTT network.

The deadline for applications is January 3, 2012, with the selection taking place in mid-March. The formal licensing process will wrap at the end of May. The CSA is looking for a quick deployment of the new channels, with a launch in fall 2012 for at least 25 percent of mainland France, including Paris, Bordeaux and Marseilles. The channels will be broadcast in the DVB-T1 MPEG 4 standard on multiplexes R7 and R8.
