FremantleMedia to Launch Product Lines Based on Baywatch Series

NEW YORK, May 8: FremantleMedia, the producer and licensor
for the classic ‘90s TV show Baywatch,
has announced that it will launch a line of apparel and accessories based on
the iconic series.

FremantleMedia will launch its Baywatch merchandising program with four partners this
spring. INGEAR Swim has signed on to produce a line of women’s and juniors’
swimwear and beach sportswear that also includes beach accessories such as
beach towels and flip-flops. The entire line is slated to hit store shelves in
spring 2008. In apparel, Knot4Nothing will introduce a line of men’s and
women’s premium T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and headwear at high-end
department stores and upper-tier specialty boutiques. Knot4Nothing’s upcoming T-shirt
line—featuring David Hasselhoff’s likeness—will launch at Sak’s
Fifth Avenue this spring. FremantleMedia has also partnered with Mad Engine for
a line of young men's apparel for mass and specialty
retailers that include T-shirts, fleece, thermal tanks and muscle tees. In addition, MeadWestvaco will
also release a full line of Baywatch
wall poster calendars, mini calendars and
Day Dreams, which will debut this fall in the U.S. at all mass and specialty
stores.

Baywatch was a pop
culture force in the ‘90s and has always been among the most asked about
properties in our catalogue,” said David Luner, the senior VP of interactive
and consumer products for FremantleMedia’s North American licensing team. “We recognize that there is a certain ‘nostalgic humor’ with
this property and we’re embracing it with a tongue-in-cheek approach.
With summer right around the corner and people dreaming about beaches, this is
the perfect time to launch a merchandising program around this timeless summer
icon.”
